Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal is a very sticky situation, whether it is on your concrete, parking lot or on the side of a building, gum eventually turns into a black smudge on concrete. But usually before then, pedestrians and clients coming into a store or office will step on it and track it in all over the carpets, rugs and mats. Then it is forced deep into the carpet and into the porous surface of concrete, just waiting for another person to step in it again, to track it somewhere else.
We are happy to provide gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Plymouth MN. Find more information about our process below:
The best methods of removing gum from concrete depends on how long the gum has been there and the level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the gum was left recently and it hasn’t penetrated the surface, we might be able to get it off by covering it with ice until the gum freezes, then scraping it off with a putty knife.
The ice forces the chewing gum to freeze into a workable consistency compared to a warm and sticky glob. Once that happens, we slide a metal putty knife or scraper directly under the gum residue. Next we slide the scraper slowly beneath the gum and the whole piece should peel right off the concrete.
The above process is only possible with gum that is brand new.
When we remove chewing gum that is already black, or is smashed down into the concrete, we use a hot water power washer with the heat turned up to 200 Degrees to melt the gum. For this type of gum removal, we won’t use high pressure because that could ruin the surface of the concrete!
Our pressure washers never uses any more pressure than necessary to clean commercial concrete. These types of surfaces can be destroyed a lot easier than most people think, especially if they’re only a couple of years old. Concrete can require up to 100 years to cure completely. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our chewing gum removal service.
To completely remove chewing gum from parking lots and other surfaces we use custom designed hot water pressure washing tools and powerful soaps that enable us to clean the surface without leading to any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water power washers and low pressure equipment, we can safely remove gum and dirt while protecting the surface. Our process will also destroy bacteria and germs that sometimes found in gum on concrete.
By hiring Plymouth Pressure Washing for regular maintenance commercial cleaning at your property, your property will have better curb appeal and all gum removal issues will be over! You will also prevent damage to carpets and other flooring while making your storefront much more welcoming to clientele.
